About Cape: Cape is America’s privacy-first mobile carrier. Our mission is to be a force for good in global wireless. Founded in 2022, we believe privacy is a fundamental right, not a luxury. We built America’s most private and secure mobile carrier from the ground up, addressing critical vulnerabilities in legacy cellular infrastructure that track movements, monitor connections, and sell personal data. Today, Cape serves consumers, businesses, and government agencies, providing a secure network with unmatched privacy and security features. We closed our Series C in March 2026 and are scaling rapidly to give people control over their personal information.

The Team

At Cape, we are architects of a privacy-centric movement. We are relentless builders, innovating at the edge of telecommunications with a foundation of high trust and high expectations. Our flat structure prioritizes collaboration over hierarchy. You’ll work alongside world-class engineers, architects, and visionaries to solve "impossible" problems and deliver mission-critical results for our users.

About the Role

To join our team, you should be excited to:

  • Dive into a well-funded but early-stage startup—be comfortable with scrappiness and ambiguity.
  • Reclaim personal privacy in an era where smartphone adoption has eroded it.

  • Push the envelope by using new technology in novel ways.
  • Work on greenfield problems, shaping the stack, practices, and tools from the ground up.
  • Work primarily in-person at our DC or NY office, with flexibility for remote days—no facetime requirements or set hours.

Responsibilities

  • Build, integrate, and maintain instrumentation, monitoring, and tooling to improve system reliability, availability, and performance.
  • Proactively solve issues before they escalate.
  • Build or integrate with telecommunications infrastructure and components.
  • Own the technical accreditation and compliance process end-to-end for FedRamp.
  • Shape and influence software engineering best practices.
  • Balance short-term business needs with long-term product vision and roadmap.

Requirements

You have:

  • Preferred:
    • 4+ years of software engineering or SRE experience.
    • Strong familiarity with AWS.
    • Fluency in Golang, Rust, Java/Kotlin, Python, or similar languages.
    • Experience building, deploying, and using monitoring infrastructure and tools.
    • Experience designing and delivering high-availability systems.
    • Passion for privacy and national security.
    • Desire to work on software with real-world impact.
  • Nice to have:
    • Familiarity with Azure and/or GCP in addition to AWS.
    • Experience with mobile telecommunications technologies (e.g., IMS, 4G/5G core network functions, multimedia protocols).
    • Experience managing redundant, high-availability multi-site deployments.
    • Experience organizing documentation for accreditation processes like FedRamp and ATOs.
