Software Engineer III (Java)
About the role
You will join an agile team within Banking Payments Technology at JPMorgan Chase, enhancing, designing, and delivering secure, stable, and scalable software components for the firm’s state-of-the-art technology products. As a Full Stack Software Engineer III, you will execute software solutions, design and develop multiple technical components, and troubleshoot with consideration of upstream and downstream systems.
Responsibilities
- Write secure, high-quality code using the syntax of at least one programming language with limited guidance
- Design, develop, code, and troubleshoot with awareness of technical implications across systems
- Apply knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) to improve automation value
- Troubleshoot and solve technical problems of basic complexity
- Gather, analyze, and draw conclusions from large, diverse data sets to identify problems and support decision-making for secure, stable application development
- Learn and apply system processes, methodologies, and skills for secure, stable code and systems development
- Contribute to a team culture of diversity, opportunity, and inclusion
Requirements
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
- Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment using one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages
- Demonstrable ability to code in Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, REST APIs, and React.js
- Experience across the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Exposure to agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
- Emerging knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, AI, machine learning, mobile)
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with modern front-end technologies like React.js
- Exposure to cloud technologies such as AWS EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, or Cloud Foundry
