About the role
The Cloud Memorystore team's mission is to provide high performing cache-as-a-service for Google Cloud Platform customers. The team owns a fully managed cache service built on scalable, secure, and available infrastructure managed by Google.
Responsibilities
- Write and test product or system development code.
- Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
- Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
- Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
- Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and its impact.
Requirements
- Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience; 2 years of experience programming in C++, Java, Golang, or Python; 2 years of experience testing, and launching software products; 2 years of experience building and developing infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture; Experience with Google Cloud Platform or other similar cloud technologies.
Preferred qualifications
- Master’s degree or PhD in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field.
- Experience in C/C++ programming.
- Experience in Cloud Networking.
- Experience with Redis, Memcached, or other caching or distributed database systems.
- Experience building managed services (e.g., caching, proxy, database, or storage).

Pay
$147,000 - $211,000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits
