At Chewy, Sponsored Advertising team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer. Sponsored Ads fosters a mutually beneficial ecosystem for shoppers, brand owners, and Chewy customers. Shoppers discover new products, brands, promotions, and price points. Brand owners showcase their products to a targeted audience (proud pet owners) and maximize their reach. Advertising is crucial for the ecommerce ecosystem and contributes significantly to revenue.

What You'll Do

• Serve as a senior technical member of a newly formed engineering team building the ads platform.
• Design, develop, and implement large-scale distributed systems processing and serving large volumes of data with very low latency.
• Drive innovation through rapid prototyping and iterative development.
• Decompose complex problems into simple, straightforward solutions that operate at scale and are maintainable.
• Instill engineering excellence in the team and focus on scalability, resilience, high availability, and performance of applications.
• Mentor engineers, build a strong engineering team culture, and contribute to raising the bar within the engineering organization.
• Generate and analyze engineering metrics to inform leadership and make data-driven decisions.
• Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills and convey dissenting opinions constructively.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software development experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
• Strong computer science fundamentals and programming skills.
• Experience developing software in an agile environment with CI/CD.
• Expert understanding of building and scaling cloud-based applications.
• Proficiency in Java, Kotlin, JS, React, Vue, or similar programming languages and technologies.
• Strong fundamentals on building and scaling cloud-based solutions (AWS).
• Proficiency in designing scalable, distributed, low-latency, and high-throughput systems.

Pay & Benefits

The base salary range for this role is $141,000 - $225,000.00. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. This position is eligible for 401(k) and an initial equity grant. Additional benefits include:

Work Schedule

This position is exempt and eligible for unlimited PTO, subject to manager approval. Employees receive six paid holidays per year. Eligible for paid sick and family leave in compliance with applicable state and local regulations.
