About the role
C.H. Robinson is seeking a Software Engineer III to join our Transactional Revenue Management team, responsible for building and evolving a platform that delivers competitive, near-real-time pricing for shipping customers.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver high-complexity, scalable solutions supporting near real-time decisioning systems
- Architect and evolve distributed systems, including:
- Microservices and RESTful APIs
- Event-driven and streaming architectures
- Hybrid data storage strategies (relational and NoSQL)
- Collaborate with architects and cross-functional teams to influence and evolve system architecture
- Independently drive system design decisions, balancing scalability, reliability, performance, and cost
- Build and maintain applications using Python (backend services, data pipelines) and React (frontend user experiences)
- Develop and operate cloud-native solutions in Azure leveraging Kubernetes
- Design and implement data workflows using Airflow or DAG-based orchestration frameworks
- Work across modern data ecosystems, including:
- MongoDB or similar NoSQL systems
- Snowflake or comparable analytical data platforms
- Own services and repositories end-to-end, ensuring reliability, scalability, and maintainability
- Break down complex initiatives, guide estimation and delivery timelines, and proactively manage execution risks
- Implement strong testing strategies (unit, integration, and end-to-end) and maintain high standards for code quality
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to accelerate engineering workflows and improve code quality
- Contribute to agentic and intelligent automation solutions, enabling adaptive and decision-driven workflows
- Partner with data scientists and analysts to productionize models and support experimentation frameworks
- Apply statistical thinking or data science concepts to improve system effectiveness (where applicable)
- Build strong, collaborative relationships across engineering, product, data, and architecture teams
- Actively contribute to and lead design discussions and code reviews
- Mentor and support other engineers, promoting best practices and continuous improvement
- Provide clear communication on progress, risks, and technical decisions
- Contribute to planning, prioritization, and delivery execution across the team
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience designing and delivering production-grade software
- 5+ years of experience with Python and backend service development
- 5+ years of experience with React or modern frontend frameworks
- Experience building cloud-native applications (Azure preferred) with Kubernetes
- Experience with modern data technologies, including MongoDB (or similar) and Snowflake (or equivalent)
- Experience with data pipelines and workflow orchestration (e.g., Airflow)
- Experience designing and consuming APIs and distributed systems
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices
- Ability to independently own and deliver complex features or services
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools and building intelligent workflows (e.g. Copilot)
- Experience on agentic or LLM-based frameworks (LangChain/LangSmith, or similar agent frameworks) and orchestration tooling
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Experience partnering with data science teams to deliver production models
- Background in statistical modeling, experimentation, or data-driven decision systems
- Experience in pricing, logistics, or other high-scale transactional systems
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence technical and product decisions
- Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and contribute to team growth
- Experience with monitoring tools (ex. DataDog, Prometheus, Grafana)
