About the Role
We are actively hiring for a Software Engineer II to join our team remotely across the United States (excluding Hawaii and Alaska). In this role, you will be instrumental in designing and building scalable, maintainable, and innovative services within a cloud-based environment. You will collaborate with technical leads and architects to establish a clear technical vision, focusing on microservices architecture, domain-driven design, and RESTful APIs primarily using Java. Your work will involve developing solutions that support high transaction volumes on platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Kubernetes, ensuring robust, secure, and efficient software delivery. This position offers an opportunity to work within a modern DevOps culture, employing continuous integration, automated testing, and deployment practices. You will be involved in data storage design using NoSQL solutions like DynamoDB and MongoDB, leveraging AWS native services to optimize data reliability and performance. Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable microservices within a cloud environment, primarily using Java and Spring Boot
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish technical visions and deliver innovative solutions that are maintainable and scalable
- Implement RESTful APIs and GraphQL interfaces to support various commerce experiences
- Participate in requirements gathering, technical feasibility assessments, and effort estimation
- Utilize modern build strategies, continuous integration, unit testing, static analysis, and automated integration testing to ensure high-quality software delivery
- Practice full DevOps principles, automating deployment and monitoring processes on AWS platforms
- Leverage NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB and MongoDB to design secure, reliable, and high-performance data storage solutions
- Perform technical code reviews and pair programming to maintain code quality and foster knowledge sharing
- Partner with other teams to ensure a loosely coupled, scalable service ecosystem
- Monitor application performance using tools like New Relic and Splunk, and troubleshoot issues proactively
- Contribute to documentation, technical standards, and best practices within the team
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
- 1-3 years of progressive experience in software engineering
- Experience designing and developing microservices using Spring Boot
- Proficiency in Java/J2EE, Python, or NodeJS
- Experience with REST Web Services and GraphQL
- Knowledge of requirements gathering and technical documentation
- Experience working with AWS native services such as Lambda
- Proficiency with SQL and NoSQL databases, including DynamoDB, MongoDB, and others
- Familiarity with monitoring tools like New Relic and Splunk
- Experience with messaging services such as Apache Camel or Enterprise Service Bus (ESB)
- Hands-on experience with container orchestration tools like Kubernetes and OpenShift
- Knowledge of AWS build tools including Jenkins and Maven
- Understanding of UML, design patterns, and architecture principles
