Software Engineer II/III

About the role

Textron Systems is seeking engineers to join its Sea Systems business area to develop solutions in support of unmanned surface vehicle programs. Current focal areas include autonomous control, advanced payload integration, vision systems, and other emerging technologies to enhance unmanned surface vehicle platforms' capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Providing solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity on both current and next generation technologies in support of Sea Vehicle products.
• Participating in software development of new products across all phases of the product lifecycle from concept development to lab and offsite integration and evaluation.
• Performing software development at component, subsystem and system level including embedded control systems and sensor/operator interface development.
• Working cohesively on a multi-functional team with exciting technologies and products.
• Leveraging diversity of thought to improve Textron Systems' lines of robotic products.
• Leading and contributing to leadership and individual contributor growth roles.
• Providing offsite integration and test support.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or computer engineering or related field required with 2 years of experience or master’s degree in computer science or computer engineering or related field.
• C/C or Java programming experience.
• Basic shell scripting experience.
• Network/Serial/CAN interface development experience is a plus.
• Knowledgeable of Object-Oriented Analysis (OOA)/Object-Oriented Design (OOD).
• Comfortable working in Unix based development environments.
• Experience with Jira and using Git or Mercurial configuration management tools is a plus.
• Exposure to frontend technologies including (but not limited to) CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, REST API, databases (SQL or NoSQL), and web UI design is a plus.
• Traveling up to 20% of the time.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $88,200 - $167,000 per year.
