Software Engineer II, Backend (Online Storage)

For our client, we are seeking a Software Engineer II, Backend (Online Storage) to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space. This role will focus on building and scaling backend cache services that support reliable online storage and high-performance production systems. The engineer will partner closely with client teams and cross-functional stakeholders to improve caching strategies, automate operations, and strengthen service availability. The work will involve distributed systems, infrastructure automation, and support for stateful services in a fast-moving financial technology environment. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $133,000 – $183,000 annually Responsibilities Build and scale cache services using Redis and Valkey, managing cluster migrations end to end Productionize cache clusters, including capacity planning and staged rollouts Automate cache requests with self-service workflows to improve efficiency Define SLOs and build alerting systems for production operations Collaborate with client teams on caching strategies and roadmap integration Break down larger projects into manageable tasks for timely delivery Engage in product development lifecycle activities, collaborating with various stakeholders Monitor and support the availability of team services, participating in on-call efforts Qualifications 2+ years of experience as a software engineer Proficient in Python or Kotlin for backend systems Familiar with distributed systems and technologies like AWS, MySQL, Redis/Valkey, Terraform, and Kubernetes Experience with Redis, Valkey, or similar in-memory stores in production Ability to analyze caching workloads and their performance metrics Skilled in automating infrastructure operations with Terraform and Kubernetes Experience in on-call support for stateful services and incident resolution Strong communication skills for effective collaboration across teams Benefits 100% health coverage for employees and their dependents Monthly stipends for tech setup and wellness options Flexible time off and generous holiday calendars Employee stock purchase plan allowing stock purchase at a discount Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
