Software Engineer II
Valon is building the AI-native operating system for regulated finance, starting with mortgage servicing. We're a Series C company backed by a16z, transforming industries that others have written off as too complex to innovate. Rather than build on top of broken legacy systems, we built and operate our own mortgage servicing business managing $110+ billion in loans to deeply understand the complexity needed to build software that actually works in regulated industries. About the role
Our engineering team powers the software ecosystem to disrupt the mortgage industry, one of the most outdated and regulated spaces in the financial sector. You'll work on a modern mortgage servicing platform handling billions of dollars at scale, with autonomy to learn quickly, execute effectively, and deliver high business impact. You'll collaborate with exceptional engineers from companies like Stripe, Jane Street, Meta, and Google in a tight-knit community that values both work and relationships.
Responsibilities
- Learn new concepts and technologies quickly and apply them to challenging problems
- Design and build robust, extensible infrastructure to handle evolving federal, state, and agency regulations
- Dive deep to understand the inner workings of a highly complex industry
- Work with Product and Design to define the best experience for our customers
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
- 1+ years of software engineering experience building quality software applications at scale
- Ability to work cross-functionally to balance product and technical requirements
- Experience building scalable systems from scratch with fast turnaround
- Experience with web application development, mobile application development, large-scale distributed systems, or infrastructure management
- Legal authority to work in the U.S.

Pay
Compensation range: $170K - $200K
