Software Engineer II

About the role

The Software Engineer II with an active TS/SCI w/ POLY is sought to join our team in Ft. Meade, MD. This position involves developing, maintaining, and enhancing complex and diverse software systems, working individually or as part of a team, reviewing and testing software components, resolving software problem reports, utilizing software development and software design methodologies, and providing input to system design.

Responsibilities

• Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements
• Debug existing software and correct defects
• Provide recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards
• Design and code new software or modify existing software to add new features
• Integrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments
• Develop simple data queries for existing or proposed databases or data repositories
• Write or review software and system documentation
• Serve as team lead at the appropriate level for the software development process being used on any particular project
• Develop or implement complex database or data repository interfaces/queries
• Develop or implement algorithms to meet or exceed system performance and functional standards
• Aid with developing and executing test procedures for software components
• Modify existing software to correct errors, adapt to new hardware, or improve its performance
• Design, develop, and modify software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical models
• Perform quality control on team products
• Oversee one or more software development teams and ensure the work is completed in accordance with the constraints of the software development process being used on any particular project
• Confer with system engineers and hardware engineers to derive software requirements and obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements, and interface
• Coordinate software system installation and monitor equipment functioning to ensure operational specifications are met

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university
• Four (4) years of additional SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree
• Two (2) year of experience developing and customizing core applications such as Incident, Problem, Change, Knowledge, and Service Catalog
• Four (4) years of IT application systems experience in technology solutions delivery
• Experience creating and implementing scripts, business rules, policies, ACLs, and otherwise configure or modify ServiceNow applications to meet requirements
• Experience integrating third-party software and APIs with ServiceNow using REST and SOAP
• Experience coding in scripting languages (i.e.: JavaScript, HTML, CSS, AngularJS, JSON or other languages used in ServiceNow)
• Four (4) years of experience with ServiceNow Implementations
• Two (2) years of experience developing on the ServiceNow Platform
• (ServiceNow System Administrator certification OR ServiceNow Application Developer certification is required.)

Skills

• Knowledge of ITOM, ITSM, HRSD, CSM and/or Service Portal
• Ability to write or review software and system documentation
• Experience designing and coding new software or modifying existing software to add new features
• Experience integrating third-party software and APIs with ServiceNow using REST and SOAP
• Experience coding in scripting languages (i.e.: JavaScript, HTML, CSS, AngularJS, JSON or other languages used in ServiceNow)
• Experience with ServiceNow Implementations
• Experience with ServiceNow Platform

Pay

$165,000 to $180,000 full Salary range lowest to highest across locations
