Job Title: Software Engineer II Job Description This role focuses on designing, developing, and optimizing modern software tools and platforms that accelerate clinical trial development and help deliver life-changing medicines to patients more quickly. You will work across the full stack to build scalable, production-grade web applications, leveraging cloud infrastructure, AI-assisted development tools, and modern DevOps practices in an Agile environment. Responsibilities Collaborate closely with a cross-functional team of engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into scalable end-to-end software solutions.Build and maintain highly responsive, intuitive user interfaces and applications using modern JavaScript and ReactJS.Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive automated test suites, including unit, integration, and end-to-end tests, using modern testing frameworks to ensure high code quality and software reliability.Drive DevOps best practices by building and managing robust CI/CD pipelines, such as GitHub Actions or GitLab CI, to support automated testing and continuous deployment.Provision, manage, and monitor cloud infrastructure on AWS, utilizing containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, and Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.Participate in the full software development lifecycle within an Agile environment, including system design, coding, code reviews, and architecture planning.Apply AI-assisted development tools to enhance coding efficiency, improve testing coverage, and streamline documentation.Support and optimize data-intensive applications that manipulate and visualize complex datasets, ensuring performance and reliability.Contribute to operational support for production applications, including system monitoring, incident response, and infrastructure troubleshooting.Design and refine end-to-end automated test frameworks to maintain quality and reliability across complex production web applications.Write and optimize SQL queries to improve database performance on platforms such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.Develop software solutions that align with relevant industry data standards and regulatory requirements, including 21 CFR Part 11, GxP, and HIPAA/GDPR. Essential Skills At least 5 years of software engineering experience focused on building and supporting scalable, production web applications.Proficiency in backend development using Python, with experience in frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django.Proficiency in frontend development using modern JavaScript (ES6) and ReactJS.Experience with AWS and modern DevOps and deployment practices, including Docker, CI/CD tools, and Infrastructure as Code.Hands-on experience writing automated tests and working with modern testing frameworks for both front-end and back-end applications.Effective use of AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Cursor, or similar technologies to improve coding, testing, and documentation.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a commitment to writing clean, maintainable, and testable code.Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment and communicate technical concepts clearly. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of South San Francisco, CA. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $72.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
