Software Engineer, IAM

About the role

The Identity and Access Management (IAM) team at Postman is responsible for creating a secure, reliable, and seamless Identity Management Platform for all Postman users. This team focuses on authenticating and authorizing every request that reaches Postman's space, enabling users to connect with peers to perform work collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Built and optimized authentication standards and protocols such as OAuth2.0, OIDC, SCIM, SAML, and other relevant protocols.
• Developed secure, reliable, and scalable IAM platform components.
• Conducted research in areas like role engineering, session management, and implemented standardized formats to meet cross-functional AuthN and AuthZ needs.
• Contributed to the development of APIs and products, collaborating with Product Managers, Designers, Support, Product, Quality, Security, and Platform Engineers.
• Designed and built any additional internal tooling required to ease the development and maintenance of the product.
• Facilitated cross-squad knowledge sharing on best practices and contributed to creating a cohesive identity framework for postman.ai, Postman's forward-looking AI product suite.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building complex backend or distributed systems at scale.
• Proficient with JavaScript, Node.js, React.js, and strong understanding of web fundamentals.
• Good knowledge of database fundamentals, especially on performance aspects such as optimizing queries, schema design, indexing, and caching.
• Proven record of building and shipping products from scratch.
• (Bonus) Good understanding of auth products, protocols, and methods (OAuth, SAML, OIDC).

Benefits

The reasonably estimated base salary for this role ranges from $150,000 to $190,000, plus a competitive equity package. Actual compensation is based on the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience. Additional benefits include full medical coverage, flexible PTO, wellness reimbursement, and a monthly lunch stipend.
