Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain test automation frameworks, tools, and libraries under supervision.
- Develop a basic understanding of small relevant product areas, implementing and maintaining simple automated test cases and framework features.
- Debug simple automation scripts and tools under supervision.
- Implement simple performance test scripts based on existing automation frameworks and tools to execute performance tests and provide basic test results reports.
- Practice basic coding standards, best practices, and guidelines for writing and maintaining automated test scripts.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure the framework meets simple testing needs within feature teams.
- Create, monitor, and analyze test execution results, including simple analysis of findings.
- Develop a strong understanding of relevant product areas and proficiency in designing high-quality, modular, configurable, and reusable frameworks that are fast, effective, secure, compliant, stable, and maintainable.
- Create and maintain automated reusable libraries/components to enhance automated capabilities.
- Integrate automated tests into the build process using Agile software development, CI/CD practices, and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub).
- Conduct API testing using tools like Postman, SoapUI, Curl, or Insomnia for validating RESTful and SOAP APIs.
- Apply performance testing concepts and tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner) to assess system behavior under load.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues within automation execution and scripts to ensure smooth operation.
- Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure quality and adherence to standards.
- Analyze system requirements and design to determine the best approach for testing changes or implementations.
- Debug and resolve blocking issues in automation scripts, frameworks, and tools using analytical and creative problem-solving approaches.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with team members, conveying precise technical details and resolving project-level challenges.
- Acquire and apply domain-specific knowledge to align testing efforts with business objectives and real-world use cases.
- Manage multiple testing projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines with excellent organizational skills.
- Adapt to changing requirements, code designs, implementation changes, new technologies, and shifting priorities.
- Commit to continuous learning to stay updated with the latest trends, tools, and technologies in test automation and quality assurance.
- Apply meticulous attention to detail to ensure high-quality automated tests and reliable framework performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or other related fields, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Completion of the Summer 2026 Internship at Mercury Insurance.
- New graduate or 2+ years of industry experience.
Skills
- Framework Design and Development: Proficiency in designing and implementing high-quality, modular, configurable, and reusable frameworks.
- Coding Skills: Strong knowledge of programming languages commonly used in automation, such as Java, Python, or JavaScript.
- Technologies: Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure. Experience leveraging DevSecOps to improve engineering efficiency.
- Test Automation Tools: Experience coding with popular test automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, Appium, IDE, Metrics).
- Release Process and CI/CD: Knowledge of Agile software development release processes and CI/CD practices and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub).
- API Testing: Knowledge of API testing methodologies and tools (e.g., Postman, SoapUI, Curl, Insomnia) for validating RESTful and SOAP APIs.
- Performance Testing: Familiarity with performance testing concepts and tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner).

State-specific pay scales for this role are as follows:
- NJ, NY, WA, HI, AK, MD, CT, RI, MA: $76,829 to $142,213
- NV, OR, AZ, CO, WY, TX, ND, MN, MO, IL, WI, FL, GA, MI, OH, VA, PA, DE, VT, NH, ME: $69,845 to $129,284
- UT, ID, MT, NM, SD, NE, KS, OK, IA, AR, LA, MS, AL, TN, KY, IN, SC, NC, WV: $62,860 to $116,356
- CA: Typical hiring range is $98,568.90 to $136,901.25
The expected base salary for this position will vary depending on relevant experience, skills, and location.
