Software Engineer I

About the role

You’ll help build and maintain the client-facing and team member-facing servicing applications used by millions of Rocket homeowners. Servicing Technology is undergoing a full-scale System of Record modernization, and you’ll contribute across the stack — front end and back end — while growing your craft alongside experienced engineers.

Responsibilities

• Code and maintain high-quality full-stack software solutions with guidance from senior engineers.
• Build new features and improve existing functionality across the front end (Next.js or React) and back end (.NET / C#, NestJS GraphQL).
• Work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define and implement product requirements.
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
• Write and maintain automated tests to ensure the reliability and performance of our applications.
• Deploy and support applications on AWS and Amazon EKS through CI/CD pipelines.
• Identify and resolve bugs and issues in a timely manner.
• Create and maintain clear, concise documentation for code, APIs, and systems.

Requirements

• 1–3 years of professional experience in software development.
• Exposure to at least one modern front-end framework such as Next.js or React.
• Exposure to back-end development with .NET / C# and/or NestJS GraphQL.
• Experience with, or willingness to learn, GraphQL integration layers and API development.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS) and containerized deployments (Amazon EKS / Kubernetes), or eagerness to learn.
• Understanding of CI/CD concepts and automated testing.
• Experience using AI code generation tools such as GitHub Copilot, Anthropic Claude Code, Cursor, or similar.
• Strong understanding of software development principles and practices.
• Knowledge of version control systems (Git).

Pay

$84,000.00 - $207,000.00

Schedule

The role may include participation in an on-call rotation to support production systems and ensure service reliability. On-call responsibilities may include coverage during nights and weekends. If applicable, frequency and scheduling will be determined by team needs and communicated accordingly.
