Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement complex software capabilities for computer-based systems.
- Work closely with other talented engineers to create software solutions that meet the needs of our clients.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in software development.
- Integrate advanced AI agents, specifically Claude Code or Google's Antigravity / Gemini agentic workflows, into your daily software engineering routine.
- Use autonomous agents to handle multi-file feature implementations, complex codebase refactoring, and the automated generation of robust unit/integration tests.
- Guide AI agents through complex, multi-repository application architectures, managing context efficiently and critically auditing agent-generated code for security, performance, and architectural alignment.
- Work in a fast-paced, small business environment with our talented team.
Requirements
- Clearance Requirement: Must currently have and maintain an active Secret level U.S. Government Security Clearance; U.S. Citizenship required.
- At least 5 years of experience in Software Engineering, Modern Java Frameworks and Libraries (e.g., Spring, Guava) and a Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
- Experience in designing enterprise APIs.
- Experience in RESTful web services.
- Experience in Microservices architecture.
- Experience in Object Oriented Programming (OOP) paradigms.
- Experience with the agile software lifecycle.
- Experience with configuration management tools (e.g. Git, Nexus, Maven).
- Comfortable working on a linux command line.
- Proven ability to learn quickly and works well both independently as well as in a team setting.
- Problem solving skills and ability to review information and compile data appropriately as needed.
- Must be able to work in a hybrid environment, spending an average of 1-2 days per week at our Greenville, SC office. Flexibility is essential to adapt to schedule changes as needed.

Skills
- Current Clearances: Active Top Secret clearances are a strong plus.
- Experience in cloud based technologies (AWS, Azure).
- Experience in distributed databases, NoSQL databases, full text-search engines (e.g. Elasticsearch, MongoDB, Solr).
- Scripting experience is a huge plus.
- Proven use of AI tools (Claude Code, Gemini) in daily engineering workflows.
- Using autonomous agents for multi-file implementation, refactoring, and automated testing.
- Prior experience or familiarity with Data Lakes/Warehouses (specifically BDP or JCRS-D).
- Understanding of AGILE software development methodologies and use of standard software development tool suites (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Github Enterprise, etc.).

Pay
Anticipated Salary Range: $95,164.00 - $135,000.00. The salary range for this role is intended as a good faith estimate based on the role's location, expectations, and responsibilities. When extending an offer, Enlighten takes a variety of factors into consideration which include, but are not limited to, the role's function, internal equity and a candidate's education or training, work experience, certifications and key skills. Occasionally positions/roles may include additional non-recurrent compensation and will be addressed by the recruiter during the interview process.
