Software Engineer (Full Stack)

About the role

FT Partners is an investment bank headquartered in San Francisco focusing on brokering FinTech transactions. We are looking to bolster our engineering team located in our San Francisco office to build FT Base, our firm's digital backbone which manages our data ecosystem, project lifecycles, AI Agents, and proprietary CRM.

The application is mission-critical with heavy, constant usage. It powers an MCP server to provide data and interactivity to employees through enterprise AI tooling. The stack is Python, Django (DRF), TypeScript, React, and PostgreSQL.

Responsibilities

• Immerse yourself in the context and business requirements of each of our system's many functional areas.
• Execute on instructions to build new features or improve, refactor, clean up, or delete existing ones.
• Make recommendations on progressing projects—sometimes for growth, simplification, or alignment with other system areas.
• Review applications prototyped outside of the engineering department, and help steer, rebuild, or secure these AI-driven tools.

Requirements

• Experience requirements (one of the following):
  • 2 years as a Software Engineer in a web application environment, or
  • 2 years as a Software Engineer plus a reputable boot camp certification, or
  • A 4-year Computer Science degree with demonstrable projects or work experience in Python, TypeScript, APIs, Git, and web application system design.
• Strong AI prompt-driven development abilities, backed by technical understanding. You must be able to explain and verify any AI-produced code you submit, line by line.
• Experience overcoming obstacles beyond the prototype, with an instinct for cohesive, organized systems that scale.
• Responsible and organized mindset—focused on building sustainable, compatible features rather than breaking ground and handing off problems.
• Attentive to detail, systems-minded, and flexible to business pressures and constraints.
• Collaborative, team-oriented, and open to asking questions, sharing ideas, and helping teammates.
• Eager to adopt new standards and improve upon previous solutions while avoiding unnecessary complexity.
• Committed to stability through test coverage and documentation.

• AWS / Cloud Infrastructure experience
• Django / Django Rest Framework (DRF) expertise
