About the role
The role involves owning problems end-to-end, from a fuzzy customer complaint, through the data model and APIs, to a polished interface that ships. Specific projects include rebuilding the schedule editing experience, designing constraints for labor laws and union rules, and creating forecast interfaces.
Responsibilities
- Owns problems end-to-end from a fuzzy customer complaint to a polished interface
- Rebuilds the schedule editing experience for 2,000 agents
- Designs constraints for labor laws and union rules
- Creates forecast interfaces showing predictions of number of people needed at any 15-minute interval
- Ensures schedule generation feels instant for large customers
Requirements
- Built a great product before and can explain the hard decisions behind it
- Move across the stack quickly and pick up new domains
- Care about solving the problem rather than the layer it lives in
- Sweat the details and fix misaligned pixels or rewrite error messages
- Ask why something is painful for users and take action
Qualifications
- Strong generalist with ability to move across the stack
- Empathy for the people who use what you build
Skills
- Familiarity with scheduling algorithms, operations research, or constraint solvers
- Experience in ML or algorithmic background in forecasting, optimization, statistical modeling
- Past life in a different field (e.g. support, operations, math, physics)
