Software Engineer – Fab Solutions R&D

HybridResearchFull-time

Siemens EDA is a global technology leader in electronic design automation software. Our software tools enable companies around the world to develop new and highly innovative electronic products faster and more cost-effectively. Our customers use our tools to push the boundaries of technology and physics in order to deliver better products in the increasingly complex world of chip, board and system design.

About the role

We are looking for a highly motivated software engineer to work in the Fab Solutions team in the Calibre business unit. You will be responsible for designing, developing, modifying, and implementing software programming for internal and external products, with a focus on surpassing customer expectations through high quality and on-time delivery. You will develop core functions in the Fab Solutions related product line, including a new line of product offerings, and help ensure the overall functional quality of released products across all required platforms and mechanisms.

This role requires the ability to understand complex products, solutions, and problems; create, document, and execute software designs that may involve complicated workflows or multiple product areas; and drive the complete sequence of development steps, including conceptualization, specification, programming, testing, and release-quality validation of the solution. You will be teaming up with a senior group of software engineers contributing to final production-level quality of new components and algorithms. This position may include technical project leadership responsibilities and involves working with general supervision on complex projects, with latitude for independent judgment. Moderate skills, a high level of proficiency, and strong technical expertise are expected.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, modify, and implement software programming for internal and external products
  • Develop core functions in the Fab Solutions related product line, including a new line of product offerings
  • Ensure the overall functional quality of released products across all required platforms and mechanisms
  • Create, document, and execute software designs that may involve complicated workflows or multiple product areas
  • Drive the complete sequence of development steps: conceptualization, specification, programming, testing, and release-quality validation
  • Contribute to final production-level quality of new components and algorithms
  • Collaborate closely with other team members to develop critical components consistently and in a timely manner

Requirements

  • BS degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Computational Engineering, or a related technical field (MS or PhD preferred)
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in software engineering, data science, or applied analytics using Python, C/C++, or modern data-processing frameworks on UNIX and/or Linux platforms
  • Experience with scalable software development practices, version control, testing, and reproducible analysis
  • Strong ability to learn and evaluate new technologies, analyze complex datasets and systems, communicate technical findings clearly, and apply rigorous problem-solving methods

Skills

  • Computational geometry experience (strongly preferred)
  • Experience with machine learning, statistical modeling, predictive analytics, optimization, or data-driven algorithm development (strongly preferred)
  • Experience with modern data science and machine learning tools such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, pandas, NumPy, or similar model development environments (preferred)
  • Experience with fab-related processes, semiconductor manufacturing data, metrology, inspection, or other data-intensive manufacturing workflows (preferred)
  • Experience building data pipelines, feature engineering workflows, model evaluation processes, dashboards, or production-quality analytics components (preferred)
  • Experience with Tcl/Tk, shell scripting, Python scripting, workflow automation, APIs, and other integration technologies (preferred)

Benefits

Working at Siemens Software means flexibility—choosing between working at home and the office at other times is the norm here. We offer great benefits and rewards, as you'd expect from a world leader in industrial software.
