Software Engineer, Embedded Systems (Networking Platforms)

This role has been designed as 'Hybrid' with a requirement that you will work on average 2 days per week from an HPE office.

About the role

Designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for software enhancements and new products. Develops software including operating systems, routers, networks, and utilities. You will be part of a product development team building high-complexity, high-scale networking platforms. This includes working with state-of-the-art silicon and platform technologies to deliver HPE’s next-generation networking systems. The role requires hands-on experience in designing, developing, and validating software for advanced networking platforms. The ideal candidate is dynamic, enthusiastic, and self-driven, and thrives in a fast-paced development environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop platform-level and system-level software for networking platforms.
• Participate on a project team of engineers involved in the development of software for networking products.
• Contribute to all phases of software development, from requirements gathering through implementation and sustaining.
• Write functional, design, and unit test specs.
• Design and develop complex modules of embedded code, troubleshoot and resolve defects.
• Demonstrate strong communication skills to work closely with hardware, software, and systems teams, and promote team collaboration.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
• 2+ years of Embedded systems development/debugging experience.

Skills

• Strong in C/C++, Python, Embedded systems development/debugging experience.
• Experience with device drivers, bring-up of new hardware and/or ASIC.
• Hands-on experience on switch/router embedded system software development.
• Ability to apply analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience designing software systems running on multiple platform types.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience of working on PTP, SyncE, IEEE1588, ITU-T timing standards is a plus.

Pay

The expected salary/wage range for this position is USD 105,500 - 213,500 annually in California (base salary). Variable incentives may also be offered.
