About the Role
The team is seeking a Senior Level Cloud Software Engineer to support all aspects of agile software design and development for products integrated into systems on large-scale compute clusters. Responsibilities include designing and developing new capabilities, testing, optimization, performance tuning, and operation and sustainment functions. As a Senior Cloud Software Engineer, you will perform requirements analysis, software design, development, installation, integration, evaluation, enhancement, maintenance, testing, and problem diagnosis/resolution at a high level of proficiency and independence. You will also provide guidance to junior programmer/analysts, evaluate project needs, create and execute test cases, develop SOPs and documentation, conduct code reviews, and generate and review designs for technical accuracy and completeness.
Rotating Tier III On-Call Support & Emergency Surge Support may be required. Work is primarily on-site at the customer office; regular telework is not generally supported, though some ad hoc telework opportunities may be available for qualified team members.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop new software capabilities for large-scale compute clusters
- Perform testing, optimization, and performance tuning
- Handle operation and sustainment functions
- Conduct requirements analysis, software design, and development
- Perform installation, integration, evaluation, enhancement, maintenance, and testing
- Diagnose and resolve complex software problems
- Provide guidance and direction to junior programmer/analysts
- Evaluate project needs and determine tasks and durations
- Create and execute test cases
- Develop SOPs and documentation
- Conduct code reviews and generate/review designs for technical accuracy and completeness
- Develop solutions integrating or extending COTS or GOTS products
- Provide rotating Tier III On-Call Support & Emergency Surge Support as required
Requirements
- High School Diploma / GED and 8 years of experience in software development/engineering, including requirements analysis, development, integration, testing, and troubleshooting
- Relevant education may substitute for experience: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field = 2 years of experience; Master's degree in Computer Science or related field = 4 years of experience
- Experience developing in high-level languages such as Java, C, or C++
- Experience working in UNIX/Linux (RedHat-based) environments
- Experience in software integration and testing, including test plan and script development
- Active TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance is required
- One of the following certifications:
- AWS Certified Developer - Associate
- AWS DevOps Engineer - Professional
- AWS Certified Machine Learning - Associate
- AWS Certified Machine Learning - Specialty
- Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)
Skills
- Strong experience with Java programming
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Ansible and Puppet
- Expertise in Continuous Integration, Deployment, Testing, and Monitoring practices
- Java programming for distributed systems, with experience in networking and multi-threading
- Agile development experience with source code management practices and tools
- Well-grounded in Linux fundamentals and knowledge in at least one scripting language (e.g., Python, Ruby, Perl)
- Familiarity with microservices software development techniques and container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes)
- Familiarity with containerization (e.g., Docker)

Pay
Target salary range: $176,000 - $282,000. Salary is determined by various factors, including scope and responsibilities of the position, individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, geographic location, and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
