Software Engineer - Cloud Engineering (C++)

About the role

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Software Development Engineer to develop industry-leading data management solutions for NetApp’s customers in all major clouds (AWS, GCP, Azure, or OCI).

As a Software Development Engineer in NetApp’s Cloud Platforms organization, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, secure, and robust operating systems and capabilities that run NetApp data management applications in the cloud. The team focuses on competitive market and customer requirements, technology advances, innovation, product quality, cost, and time-to-market.

Responsibilities

• Develop a strong technical understanding of NetApp’s existing data management and storage solutions in the cloud, their interdependencies, and limitations.
• Participate in all phases of the product development cycle including product design, development, test automation, debugging, support, and resolution of impactful customer issues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
• Handle unstructured tasks and conduct research to convert vague or undefined requirements into clearly articulated ones.
• Operate under limited supervision, drive results, and set priorities independently.
• Engage in peer-to-peer collaboration and learning to foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in software development and cloud engineering.
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as C/C++ or equivalent, and Python.
• Strong hands-on operational knowledge in at least one major cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or OCI).
• Strong knowledge of cloud architecture, services, and best practices.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on collaboration.
• Ability to work with limited supervision and drive results independently.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in software development of distributed data management systems (e.g., NetApp ONTAP or similar).
• Advanced certifications in AWS, GCP, or OCI.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Experience with cloud monitoring and logging tools.

Pay

The target salary range for this position is $147,900 - $220,000 USD. The salary offered will be determined by the candidate's location, qualifications, experience, and education and may be outside of this range. The range is based on 'On Target Earnings' (OTE), representing the total potential earnings, which includes base salary and potential commission when performance targets are achieved.
