About the Role

The Software Engineer, Cash Line designs, builds, and maintains backend systems supporting a core lending product that provides flexible access to credit. This role contributes to the borrower experience by developing reliable services and APIs for offer generation, pricing, underwriting, funding, and account management. The position offers end-to-end ownership of features while working closely with product, design, and engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain reliable backend services and APIs supporting lending products.
  • Develop systems for offer generation, pricing, underwriting, funding, and account management.
  • Integrate backend services with borrower-facing applications and partner systems.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver product improvements.
  • Write well-tested, maintainable code and participate in code reviews.
  • Improve system performance, scalability, reliability, and observability.
  • Support experimentation and iterative product improvements using data and customer feedback.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Strong experience developing backend services and APIs using Python, Java, Kotlin, Ruby, Node.js, or similar technologies.
  • Knowledge of REST or GraphQL APIs, data modeling, and distributed or service-oriented architectures.
  • Proficiency in writing tested, maintainable code and participating in code reviews.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver product features.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building scalable and reliable consumer-facing products.
  • Familiarity with automated testing, CI/CD, observability, and modern software development practices.
  • Exposure to fintech, lending, payments, or regulated financial products.
  • Experience with experimentation, A/B testing, or feature flagging.
  • Experience using AI tools in engineering workflows.
  • Interest in expanding access to credit and improving financial outcomes.
