About the Role

The Principal Embedded Real-Time Software Developer/Integrator is a critical technical position within RTX's Software organization, based onsite in Tucson, AZ. This role involves architecting, designing, implementing, testing, debugging, and deploying embedded software solutions for complex hardware and firmware systems. You will work within an integrated product team to develop software for autonomous avionics systems, including FPGA firmware and hardware integration, ensuring compliance with stringent mission, safety, and functional reliability requirements. The position offers collaboration with product owners, engineers, and management in an agile environment, contributing to next-generation weapon and security solutions that impact national security and global stability.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, implement, test, and debug integrated embedded real-time software within heterogeneous systems comprising firmware and hardware components.
• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to define, refine, and improve product concepts, implementation strategies, and testing methodologies to ensure high quality and reliability.
• Mentor and coach less experienced engineers to foster technical growth and knowledge sharing within the team.
• Participate in proposal development, preliminary design reviews, and critical design reviews to ensure technical feasibility and alignment with project goals.
• Work closely with product owners, engineers, and management to ensure software solutions meet mission, safety, and performance requirements.
• Maintain adherence to project schedules and technical standards, contributing to continuous process improvements.

Qualifications

• A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with Embedded C++ Software development.
• Knowledge of embedded software security principles.
• Proficiency in Software Architecture Design and Implementation.
• Hands-on experience with embedded Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) such as Green Hills, Integrity, Wind River VxWorks, or Linux.
• Experience developing complex systems involving hardware, firmware, and software integration.
• Ability to obtain Interim Secret U.S. government security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
