About the role
We're looking for a Software Engineer with strong C/C++ fundamentals and a DevOps mindset to design, build, and deliver production-grade software on Linux systems. In this role, you'll work daily within CI/CD pipelines to compile, test, and deliver C++ artifacts, apply sound software design principles to complex systems, and collaborate across development, operations, and security teams to keep delivery fast, reliable, and secure.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain C/C++ applications on Linux using command-line tooling and associated toolchains.
- Work daily within CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions) to automatically compile, test, and deliver C++ artifacts, containerized or otherwise.
- Apply software engineering best practices, including Git version control, code reviews, static analysis, and troubleshooting build and test failures.
- Apply strong software design fundamentals — design patterns, architectural styles, and SOLID principles — to build maintainable, scalable systems.
Qualifications
- Active DOD Secret clearance required.
- Hands-on experience with C/C++ development on Linux and associated command-line toolchains.
- Daily experience using CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions) to build, test, and deliver software artifacts.
- Solid foundation in software engineering best practices: Git version control, code reviews, static analysis, and build/test troubleshooting.
- Strong grounding in software design fundamentals, including design patterns, architectural styles, and SOLID principles.
Nice to have qualifications
- Experience with GitLab and a variety of CI/CD pipeline strategies to streamline and accelerate software delivery.
- Demonstrated experience architecting and designing large, complex legacy software systems, with deep hands-on expertise in Java, C, and/or C++.
- Experience in Automation & DevOps, including CI/CD definition, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), automated testing, and release pipeline construction.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to enable collaboration across development, operations, security, and business teams, ensuring consistent adoption of architectural standards.
- Proven track record designing, implementing, and delivering microservices solutions.
- Advanced problem-solving skills with the ability to perform trade-off analyses (e.g., cost vs. performance, time-to-market vs. quality).
- Expertise in API design and integration, including REST, gRPC, GraphQL, OpenAPI, and contract-first approaches.
- Experience with static application security testing (SAST) tools such as Fortify or comparable solutions.
- Familiarity with binary management repositories (e.g., Artifactory, Nexus).
- Prior involvement with domestic programs at the Manassas, VA site.
- Proficiency in modern software development methodologies, including Agile, Scrum, and DevOps practices.
