Software Engineer (Backend — Python/FastAPI)

About the role

This is a hybrid backend engineer role where you own and ship net-new product features on an AI-powered financial data platform. You’ll join a small, fast-moving team and report directly to the Head of Engineering. High autonomy — systems thinking and product mindset matter more than pedigree.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery of new features — from customer needs to design, implementation, and production deployment.
• Architect and build scalable backend services and APIs with Python, FastAPI, and distributed systems patterns.
• Work directly with customers and finance teams to turn business needs into technical solutions and smart trade-offs.
• Use AI coding tools to ship faster.
• Improve developer experience, observability, and reliability as the team scales.

Requirements

• 2+ years (ideally 3+) as a backend-leaning software engineer.
• I’ve built and shipped product features for customers in production.
• Proficient in Python or TypeScript — ideally production Python + FastAPI.
• Experience with distributed systems.
• Product mindset + end-to-end ownership from customer need to production.
• Comfortable in an early-stage, fast-moving environment with high autonomy.
• No H-1B sponsorship available (visa transfers or O-1/TN are OK).

• $150k–$250k + meaningful equity.
