About the role
Barclays Services Corp. seeks Software Engineer BA4 in Whippany, NJ (multiple positions available):
Responsibilities
- End-to-end development, deployment, and maintenance of Barclays' Enterprise Security Master (ESM) system, ensuring it functions as the authoritative source of critical static reference data.
- Involvement in the entire software development life cycle (SDLC), from initial requirements gathering and technical analysis to design, implementation, and testing.
- Follow Agile methodologies to deliver incremental improvements, working closely with product owners and business analysts to prioritize and refine requirements.
- Design and develop robust data pipelines that process and hydrate financial instrument data from multiple vendor sources into ESM, utilizing a technical stack that includes Shell scripting, Perl, Java microservices, Restful web services, message queues, Linux, and relational databases such as MSSQL and PostgreSQL.
- Conduct detailed data analysis and investigation to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and quality of reference data by collaborating with business stakeholders, data operations to address data quality issues, analyze requirements for regulatory changes and ensure compliance with evolving standards.
- Engagement with external vendors to source and integrate data into Barclays reference data systems, leveraging complex linking and merging logic to enrich financial instrument data and maintain the integrity.
- Deploy and maintain the application infrastructure. Utilize OpenShift for container orchestration, Docker for image management, and CI/CD tools such as TeamCity and GitLab to enable seamless application delivery.
- Collaborate with the Run-the-Bank (RTB) teams to resolve production issues, provide timely support and conduct root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
Requirements
Minimum Salary: $189,592 per year
Maximum Salary: $195,000 per year
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in software development, preferably in a financial services environment.
- Experience with Shell scripting, Perl, Java, microservices, Restful web services, message queues, Linux, and relational databases such as MSSQL and PostgreSQL.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to work with complex data sets.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Skills
