Software Engineer

About the role

Ultra Mission Solutions is hiring mid-level Software Engineers to join the Mission Software team under the mentorship of one of our Solutions Architects, supporting high-demand programs and mission application development. This role involves contributing to software development across the Mission Solutions portfolio, working alongside a senior Solutions Architect and leveraging modern AI tools to accelerate delivery.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to software development across the Mission Solutions portfolio
• Leverage modern AI tools to accelerate delivery
• Bring existing engineering experience to bear while continuing to grow toward a Solutions Architect track
• Take ownership of features and support field and integration activities as needed

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related STEM discipline (or equivalent experience)
• 6+ years of software engineering experience
• Demonstrated ability to deliver production software
• Curiosity, initiative, and a collaborative mindset
• Must be able to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance; active clearance preferred
• U.S. Citizenship required

Qualifications

• Must be willing to travel up to 25% of the year to support solution engineering in the field, support military exercises, and major integration events

Preferred Qualifications

• Active U.S. Secret or Top Secret security clearance
• Exposure to AI/ML tooling and modern development workflows
• Proficiency in Linux, Containers, Python, C++, Go, gRPC, REST Services or similar
• Experience in edge compute, mission systems, or rugged platforms
• Interest in growing into a Solutions Architect role
