Responsibilities
- Research, write, develop, test, and evaluate software programs.
- Work with teams to facilitate deployment of software programs.
- Determine purpose, application, and feasibility of new or enhanced software.
- Create and update documentation for designs and all project phases.
- Troubleshoot and solve problems with external customers.
- Coordinate engineering efforts and provide assistance to internal teams or external customers.
- Stay current with new developments in engineering design, methods, and applications.
- Provide or assist with training related to new or existing software.
- Assist with quote or request-for-quote processes.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area, following established safety and ergonomic standards.
- Perform comparable duties of a similar or related nature and assist in other areas as needed.
- Learn, understand, continuously improve, and promote the division’s quality management system in accordance with ISO standards.
- Apply specific skills, proficiencies, and knowledge in the field as identified by department leadership.
Requirements
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in software engineering or a related field. Entry-level or early-career engineer (0–2 years with a bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree in an engineering field). Experience may substitute for education.
- Proficiency in one or more of: C/C++, Java, Python (required). Experience with JavaScript, Vue, MVC, or Go is a plus.
- Experience using UNIX/Linux operating systems (preferred).
- Ability to apply design theory and methodology.
- High level of customer service skills and well-developed problem-solving techniques.
- Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Self-motivated team player with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be a U.S. Person for this position.
- Travel may be necessary.
