The Application Security team within the Architecture Platform Experience (PDE) suite is looking for individuals passionate about automation, cloud technologies, artificial intelligence, and building solutions that make software development easier for everyone at State Farm.
Responsibilities
- Use AWS services (e.g., Step Functions, Lambdas, Secrets Manager, S3) to build, deploy, and manage secure and scalable solutions.
- Apply a strong understanding of development tools, processes, applications, programming languages, and environments to help deliver robust security outcomes.
- Improve usability and customer-product interaction by applying knowledge of UX practices, ensuring security measures support (not hinder) user engagement.
- Contribute to strategic and tactical discussions involving security and development teams, and support alignment on goals.
- Support application security initiatives, including security scanning, credential/access management, security training, and dependency management.
- Demonstrate a DevOps and Agile mindset by partnering across the team and embedding security practices throughout the product lifecycle.
Qualifications
- Proven Full Stack Developer experience with proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Golang, Java, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and how security integrates into each phase.
- Hands-on experience with security scanning tools such as Snyk, GitHub Advanced Security, and Prisma to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities.
- Experience with unit testing to ensure code quality and security.
- Proficiency with AWS services including Step Functions, Lambdas, Secrets Manager, S3, etc., to architect secure cloud-native applications.
- Familiarity with Terraform (OpenTofu), Git, CI/CD best practices, and overall Application Security principles.

Pay
Potential starting salary range: $90,000 - $125,000. Starting salary will be based on skills, background, and experience. High end of the range limited to applicants with significant relevant experience. Potential yearly incentive pay up to 15% of base salary.
