Software Engineer

About the role

The Response & Reporting engineering organization at Motorola Solutions develops mission-critical software solutions for public safety agencies. This position involves building and maintaining advanced software systems that support real-time operations and can impact public safety.

Responsibilities

• Develop requirements, code, and create unit and other automated testing solutions for enterprise-level systems and services.
• Collaborate with technical leaders in a multinational environment, working with teams across the globe.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders and provide documentation including User Stories and Tasks.
• Assist junior developers and mentor other developers as needed.
• Participate in code reviews and provide feedback.
• Resolve customer issues as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
• Able to obtain background clearance as required by government customer.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely.

Qualifications

• Software development experience.
• Strong background in modern software development practices, principles, and tools.
• Experience with scripting languages, RDBMS, and advanced debugging tools.
• Experience with DevOps practices and tools.
• Experience developing REST based APIs and implementing microservice principles and architectures.
• Experience developing cloud-based solutions in Azure.
• Proven ability to evaluate software quality through functional testing, load testing, performance testing, and techniques like network tracing, threat analysis, penetration testing, unit testing, and exploratory testing.

Skills

• Proficiency in C, C++, C#, .NET Core, Java.
• Experience with NoSQL distributed databases like Cosmos DB/DocumentDB/DynamoDB.
• Experience with advanced debugging tools and techniques.
• Experience with DevOps practices and tools.
• Experience developing cloud-based solutions in Azure.
• Experience with REST based APIs and microservices.
• Ability to evaluate software quality through various testing methods.

Benefits

• Base salary range: $80,000 - $92,000 USD.

Pay

This position is subject to working in high-security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy." Therefore, it requires successfully passing a stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers.
