Software Engineer
Clearance Level: Must be able to obtain an Active Secret Clearance – US citizenship is required due to the nature of the work. An interim clearance is sufficient for the start of this position.
Location: This position is hybrid. The individual will be required to be onsite 3 days a week. Candidates are expected to be local at the time of the start of the assignment. Final schedule to be determined by the hiring manager.
About the Role
Aquila Technology is seeking a versatile, full-stack software developer for several programs involving hardware, software, and real-time analytics. The developer will work with a small team of other software developers to develop, test, and deploy software for operational use in the field. The team develops secure systems that are resilient to adversarial threats—now and in the future. The work spans the entire R&D spectrum: from system architecture and threat modeling, to cryptographic protocol design, secure implementation, field prototyping, and transition. The mission is to ensure that national security systems can be trusted and relied on, even in adversary-contested environments.
Responsibilities
- Develop, test, and deploy software for operational use in the field
- Work with a small team in rapid development cycles
- Design and implement secure systems resilient to adversarial threats
- Engage in system architecture, threat modeling, cryptographic protocol design, and secure implementation
- Participate in field prototyping and transition of developed systems
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 5 years of software/algorithm development experience
- 1 year of machine learning/AI experience
- 1 year of AI/ML experience
- 1 year of program/project management or analysis
- 1 year of software documentation experience
- 3 years of AWS programming experience
- 1 year of backend programming (SQL)
- 2 years of C/C++ programming experience
- 2 years of development experience on a Linux platform
- 2 years of full-stack development experience
- 1 year of Git/GitHub experience
- 1 year of GPU (e.g., CUDA) processing experience
- 1 year of Java development experience
- 2 years of object-oriented software design and development experience
- 2 years of Python experience
- 1 year of Rust experience
- 2 years of software design/development experience
- 1 year of hardware and software integration experience
- 1 year of Kubernetes experience
- Strong background in Rust, C, Python, Docker, and AWS

Schedule
