About The Role We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Software Engineer to join AlApply’s dynamic development team. In this pivotal role, you will contribute to the design, development, and optimization of our core healthcare platforms, with a particular focus on enhancing prescription processing and pharmacy services. Your expertise will help streamline workflows, improve automation, and enable our partners—such as healthcare providers, insurers, and pharmaceutical companies—to configure and deploy clinical, billing, and benefits workflows tailored to diverse use cases. You will work on high-impact projects that leverage advanced technologies like large language models (LLMs) to parse unstructured prescription data, integrate controlled substance safety features, and optimize drug dispensing processes to provide cost-effective solutions for patients. This role demands a proactive approach to architecture, system design, and collaboration, ensuring the scalability, reliability, and security of our platform as we continue to innovate in the digital health space. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, complemented by over 10 years of progressive experience in software engineering within high-volume, high-throughput production environments. Deep expertise in backend or full-stack development is essential, particularly with modern technologies such as Ruby on Rails, TypeScript/JavaScript, and PostgreSQL. You should have a strong foundation in system architecture, designing scalable and maintainable systems, and a proven track record of delivering resilient, high-performance applications. Familiarity with supply chain optimization, predictive machine learning models, and service-oriented architecture is highly desirable. Candidates must demonstrate a growth mindset, ownership of their work, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial setting. Excellent communication skills and a passion for healthcare innovation are critical for success in this role. Responsibilities Your key responsibilities will include designing and developing critical services that manage prescription intake, processing, and fulfillment. You will build and optimize automation workflows, integrating AI models and external data sources to improve accuracy and efficiency. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will enable partners to configure clinical, billing, and benefits workflows tailored to their needs, ensuring seamless integration and user experience. You will lead efforts to enhance pharmacy safety features by integrating controlled substance history and risk assessments into the dispensing process. Additionally, you will mentor junior engineers, promote best practices in software development, and contribute to the strategic planning of platform architecture. Your work will directly impact patient care by accelerating prescription processing, reducing errors, and lowering costs through intelligent automation and data-driven decision-making.
