About the role
We are seeking dynamic, self-motivated Software Engineers to join a backend development team focused on middleware and backend services. This role involves IT Modernization, Data Enablement, and Hyperautomation to support meaningful federal missions.
Responsibilities
- Perform schema updates and optimize Solr/Elasticsearch for performance and query efficiency.
- Develop, test, and deploy backend Java code that undergoes code reviews, unit testing, and integration testing.
- Work in a big data environment using tools such as Hadoop, PySpark, Spark, and HBase.
Requirements
- College degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical degree.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on, back-end Java development experience (not JavaScript or Spring Boot).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a big data environment using tools such as Hadoop, PySpark, Spark, and HBase (preferably at least two of these).
- Intermediate to expert-level experience in Solr or Elasticsearch (minimum 3 years).
- Significant knowledge and experience with Lucene queries, Solr/Elasticsearch shards, and query optimization.
- Active TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with multiple AWS services.
- Experience with JIRA and GitHub.
