Job Title: Software EngineerJob Description We are seeking a Software Engineer to support the development of advanced simulation and training systems used in complex aerospace and defense environments. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge software solutions involving real-time simulation, avionics integration, distributed systems, and immersive training technologies. The ideal candidate is a strong C/C++ developer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, and building high-performance applications in Linux and Windows environments. This position is based onsite in Orlando, Florida and may require domestic and international travel. Responsibilities Design, develop, enhance, and maintain software applications and simulation systems.Implement new features and capabilities based on customer and program requirements.Modify and improve existing software components and architectures.Participate in software design, implementation, integration, and testing activities.Develop and execute unit tests and support verification and validation efforts.Document software designs, test results, and technical solutions.Work collaboratively with systems, hardware, modeling & simulation, and test engineering teams.Support software configuration management and development processes.Contribute to technical discussions, design reviews, and problem-solving efforts.Maintain project schedules and provide status updates on assigned work.Support customer demonstrations, integration activities, and deployment efforts as required.Travel domestically and internationally in support of program activities. Essential Skills Strong experience with C and C++.At least 2 years of professional software development experience, or equivalent project experience with demonstrable portfolio examples.Experience with object-oriented software design and development.Experience working with unmanaged programming languages.Familiarity with software development life cycle (SDLC) processes.Experience working from requirements and technical specifications.Experience using source control and configuration management tools.Understanding of software architecture and design principles.Ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.U.S. Person status required.Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with simulation and training systems.Knowledge of full-flight or full-motion simulation systems.Understanding of Instructor Operator Stations (IOS).Experience with avionics systems and electronic control loaders.Familiarity with distributed simulation environments and image generation systems.Understanding of flight modeling software and datalink simulation systems.Experience with Semi-Automated Forces (SAF).Networking experience with TCP/IP, UDP, and networked applications.Real-time software development and multi-threaded applications.Experience with distributed systems architectures.Experience with modeling and simulation environments and military training systems.Background in aerospace software development.Experience with hardware/software integration. Work Environment Technologies commonly used include C/C++, Linux and Windows operating systems, Visual Studio, GNU Toolchain, Eclipse, Atlassian Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Jama, Git-based configuration management tools, and Microsoft Office Suite. The work environment involves collaboration with experienced engineers across multiple disciplines, offering opportunities to work on sophisticated simulation and training technologies and contribute to programs supporting aerospace and defense missions. The position is onsite in Orlando, Florida, with potential travel for international deployment and integration activities. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Orlando, FL. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $57.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
