Software Engineer and Developer

About the role

This role is more than just coding. As a back-end developer at Booz Allen, you’ll use your passion to learn new tools and techniques and identify needed system improvements. You’ll help clients overcome their most difficult challenges using the latest architectural approaches, tools, and technologies. You’ll help make sure the solution developed by the team considers the current architecture and operating environment, as well as future functionality and enhancements.

Responsibilities

• Design, modify, develop, write, and implement software programming applications
• Design, optimize, and maintain NoSQL databases
• Develop end-to-end solutions using AWS-based tools
• Develop APIs
• Work on EO/IR image processing, data exploitation, or analysis algorithm development
• Create solutions to complex problems within a collaborative team environment

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience designing, modifying, developing, writing, and implementing software programming applications
• 4+ years of experience designing, optimizing, and maintaining NoSQL databases
• Experience with Python coding
• Experience with end-to-end design, scoping, and implementation of AWS-based tools
• Experience with API development
• Experience in EO/IR image processing, data exploitation, or analysis algorithm development
• Active TS/SCI clearance; willingness to take a polygraph exam
• Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of experience in software engineering, or Master's degree and 2+ years of experience in software engineering

Nice to have

• Experience with container technology, including Docker or podman
• Experience with Python coding for AI/ML solutions such as PyTorch and TensorFlow
• Experience working with Agentic workflows and LLMs, such as Claude or GPT

Pay

Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $69,300.00 to $158,000.00 (annualized USD).

Work models:

• Remote: If this position is listed as remote, there may still be occasions when you are required to work in person at a Booz Allen or customer facility.
