About the role
We are seeking a highly skilled AI Engineer to join our CES Business Intelligence team. This role is pivotal in transforming operational data into advanced AI-powered solutions that drive efficiency and innovation across commercial, contracts, and operational domains. The successful candidate will develop, deploy, and maintain machine learning models, large language model applications, and intelligent systems that support real-time decision-making. You will work closely with analytics teams and executive stakeholders to identify business needs, design scalable AI solutions, and ensure seamless integration into existing operational workflows. This multifaceted position offers an exciting opportunity to lead AI initiatives, establish best practices, and contribute to GE Aerospace’s strategic AI roadmap, ultimately impacting daily operations and long-term business success.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy AI/ML products, including LLM-powered applications, forecasting models, anomaly detection systems, and intelligent agents.
- Lead the full lifecycle of AI solutions from requirements gathering, model design, training, evaluation, to deployment and operational support.
- Create reusable AI capabilities through Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers and package models as robust APIs for seamless integration.
- Embed AI features into existing applications to enable natural language queries, predictive insights, and intelligent recommendations.
- Provide technical leadership in AI/ML best practices, prompt engineering, experiment tracking, and responsible AI development.
- Collaborate with BI and data platform teams to design and optimize data pipelines, ensuring data quality, freshness, and proper feature engineering.
- Establish MLOps practices including experiment tracking, model versioning, automated evaluation pipelines, and continuous improvement frameworks.
- Implement monitoring and observability for AI systems to track performance, data drift, latency, and errors, with automated alerting mechanisms.
- Design vector database architectures and semantic search capabilities to support RAG applications, optimizing retrieval strategies for accuracy and latency.
- Develop evaluation frameworks for LLM applications, measuring response quality, relevance, and hallucination rates, and automate testing of prompt templates.
- Ensure adherence to responsible AI practices, including bias detection, explainability, privacy preservation, and compliance with governance policies.
- Drive AI/ML strategy by identifying high-impact use cases, evaluating emerging technologies, and building proof-of-concept solutions that demonstrate business value.
- Engage with domain experts to translate operational knowledge into effective AI models and systems.
- Communicate AI concepts, trade-offs, and results effectively to stakeholders through documentation, presentations, and demonstrations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in AI/ML engineering, including building and deploying models and AI-powered applications in production environments.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, C#, or TypeScript, with a focus on production-quality code.
- Experience with data platform technologies, including AWS, Databricks, GitHub, and related tools.
- Knowledge of MLflow, model registries, automated training pipelines, A/B testing, and model monitoring.
- Strong understanding of supervised and unsupervised learning, time-series forecasting, classification, and optimization techniques.
- Experience building REST APIs using frameworks like FastAPI or Flask, including authentication, versioning, and documentation.
- Familiarity with vector databases, retrieval-augmented generation, and semantic search architectures.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex AI concepts for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience in supply chain, manufacturing, maintenance, or operations analytics is a plus.
- Demonstrated leadership in AI/ML projects and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
