Software Engineer (AI-Assisted Developer Tooling) with Security Clearance

About the role

Visionist is seeking a Software Engineer (AI-Assisted Developer Tooling) for a fully funded opportunity on a large prime contract. The role is for a Software Engineer specializing in AI-assisted IDE features and developer tooling capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement AI-assisted IDE features and developer tooling capabilities
• Integrate agent-based systems to automate repetitive developer tasks, including code reviews, unit test generation, and code quality analysis
• Experiment with autonomous or semi-autonomous agents to enhance development workflows
• Integrate new tools into existing development platforms and CI/CD pipelines
• Collaborate with customers and teammates to gather feedback and iterate on solutions
• Measure and document the effectiveness of tooling improvements to inform future development

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline
• (Additional 4 years of experience may substitute degree)
• 12 years of experience in software development
• Strong software engineering skills in one or more modern programming languages
• Hands-on experience with AI- or LLM-powered developer tools, including chat-based interfaces or automated coding agents
• Solid understanding of software development workflows and best practices

Pay

Salary range: $170,000 - $240,000
