About the Role
This position is for a Software Engineer developing test and training simulations. The selected candidate will be a member of an Agile Scrum Team responsible for software development in C++ for the Advanced Framework for Simulation Integration and Modeling (AFSIM), while continuing to support existing Java-based components.
Responsibilities
- Develop software updates for simulation and training systems using C++ and AFSIM.
- Support and maintain existing Java-based software components.
- Develop new simulation entities and extend development frameworks to support new entity behaviors.
- Perform analysis and technical support for software products, including problem resolution, design, development, testing, operational integration, and user support.
- Maintain, debug, and configure software products.
- Assist with design, coding, benchmark testing, debugging, and documentation activities.
- Interface with other system support groups to resolve technical issues and improve system efficiency.
- Design, develop, test, and implement tools for operations automation.
- Work across multiple phases of software systems programming applications with guidance as needed.
Requirements
- Generally has 3+ years of related experience and may have a postsecondary degree or training in a related discipline.
- Experience developing and working with simulation frameworks for test and training use cases.
- Strong software engineering and software development experience with AFSIM and C++, including development of AFSIM plugins for high-performance, real-time simulation.
- Strong software engineering and software development experience with Java.
- Experience with Spring-based application frameworks using XML configurations that do not leverage Spring Boot.
- Knowledge of software development practices, including coding standards and configuration management.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
- Understanding of TCP/IP and Pub/Sub usage.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AFSIM plugin development in C++ using Eclipse and/or Visual Studio Code.
- Experience with Java Spring.
- Experience developing enterprise applications using Eclipse, Visual Studio Code, and Maven development environments.
- Familiarity with Java foundation classes and toolkits.
- Interest in simulation entity development and simulation control user interfaces.
Education
Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of experience or Master’s degree with 1+ years of experience.
Location & Clearance
Full-time, on-site position in Colorado Springs, CO. Requires a Secret clearance.
Pay
Salary range: $105,000 to $122,400.
