Software Development Manager
About the Position
The Superior Court of Los Angeles County is seeking a Software Development Manager to lead a high-performing team of developers. This role involves translating business needs into cutting-edge .NET applications, fostering a culture of technical excellence, and guiding the team in optimizing performance, navigating challenges, and implementing forward-thinking solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership – Manage assigned teams directly or through supervisors, ensuring work priorities align with policies, regulations, and organizational quality standards.
Staff Development – Select, hire, mentor, and train staff while overseeing performance management, coaching, evaluations, and corrective actions as needed.
Communication & Collaboration – Foster effective communication across teams, departments, and leadership through workgroup discussions and feedback exchanges.
Project & Solution Oversight – Partner with development and design teams to lead application and integration solutions, ensuring alignment with business needs.
Process Improvement – Evaluate and refine build and release processes, recommending improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Cross-Functional Coordination – Work with development, operations, quality assurance, and security teams to streamline development processes and meet project requirements.
Technical Guidance – Provide expert support to development teams to optimize software performance, scalability, and operability.
Automation & Innovation – Develop and improve automation solutions to enable efficient software deployment and continuous improvement.
Strategic Application Management – Define and enhance lifecycle management practices, ensuring methodologies align with industry best practices.
Stakeholder & Vendor Relations – Cultivate productive relationships with stakeholders, vendors, and customers while overseeing vendor deliverables and contractual obligations.
Selection Requirements
Option I: 9+ years' of experience in software development; two years of which must include experience in managing or supervising a team.
Option II: Associate's degree* in information technology, computer science, management information systems, or related field; -AND- 7+ years' of experience in software development; two years of which must include experience in managing or supervising a team.
Option III: Bachelor's degree* in information technology, computer science, management information systems, or related field; -AND- 5+ years' of experience in software development; two years of which must include experience in managing or supervising a team.
Option IV: Master's degree* in information technology, computer science, management information systems, or related field; -AND- 3+ years' of experience in software development; two years of which must include experience in managing or supervising a team.

Advanced Software Development Expertise – Strong grasp of modern development principles, tools, and best practices for designing, building, and testing robust applications.

Software Engineering Excellence – Deep understanding of development life cycles, engineering methodologies, software reliability, and reusability strategies.
