About the Role

Shipcom Wireless is looking for a Software Development Manager to lead the Product Development team. You will coach and lead a team of Software Development Engineers to build highly scalable, multi-tenant services for the next generation of the Catamaran platform.

Responsibilities

  • Dive deep into the details on business, operations and engineering
  • Be a technical, detail-oriented leader who can build and grow an engineering organization
  • Excel at hiring and developing strong software development engineers
  • Deliver the most customer-centric experience
  • Be able to look at problems in new ways, inventing simple solutions to complex problems
  • Build and champion a psychologically safe culture as well as structure and develop diverse organizations
  • Present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences
  • Take great care of the development needs, of your best-in-class team and cultivate an environment of belonging so high performing individuals can form outstanding teams that deliver results for our customers
  • Discover the true requirements underlying feature requests, recommend alternative technical and business approaches and lead engineering efforts to meet aggressive timelines with optimal solutions

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience working directly within engineering teams
  • 3+ years of people management experience, managing engineers
  • 3+ years of experience architecting and designing (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
  • 3+ years of experience designing and developing solutions in distributed systems environments
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline. Master’s degree preferred
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Experience with building web and mobile solutions
  • Hands-on expertise with building and operating back-end services
  • Experience partnering with product OR program management teams
  • Exceptional customer relationship skills, written and verbal communication skills
  • Being passionate about what you do and a get-things-done attitude to make your product and team successful
