About the role

We are seeking an experienced Manager, Forward Deployed Engineering to build and lead a team of FDEs who win technical confidence through compelling demos and proofs-of-concept, and who scale their impact by productizing field patterns into accelerators, tooling, and reference solutions. This is a hands-on technical leadership role — close enough to the work to unblock a customer POC or review an accelerator’s design, and strategic enough to shape how the FDE function operates and how field signal informs the AIDP roadmap.

Responsibilities

  • Build, coach, and lead a high-performing team of Forward Deployed Engineers who partner directly with enterprise customers and Oracle field teams to prove the value of AIDP.
  • Own the demo and proof-of-concept motion: set the bar for credible, high-impact technical demonstrations (e.g., Deep Insights agents, DFL pipelines, notebooks, and agent flows) that convert strategic opportunities into technical wins and account expansion.
  • Drive the creation of reusable accelerators, tooling, plugins, and reference solutions that capture field learnings once and let every FDE and customer reuse them — reducing time-to-value on each new engagement.
  • Establish repeatable engineering practices for the FDE team: solution templates, demo/POC standards, code-quality bars, and a shared accelerator library, so quality scales with the team rather than living in individuals’ heads.
  • Partner with Sales, Solution Engineering, and customer stakeholders to scope engagements, size technical effort, and sequence work that balances a fast first impression with a durable path to production.
  • Serve as the escalation point and senior technical reviewer for the hardest customer problems: architecture, big-data performance (Spark and equivalent compute engines), data integration, and integration across Oracle’s cloud and application ecosystem.
  • Close the loop with Product, Engineering, and Science: synthesize recurring field patterns, gaps, and customer requirements into clear, prioritized input to the AIDP roadmap.
  • Drive pilots and joint initiatives with strategic customers and partners to accelerate adoption of Oracle’s AI Data Platform offerings.
  • Manage team health and growth: hiring, onboarding, career development, performance, and workload balance across concurrent customer engagements.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of engineering experience, including recent experience leading engineers — as a manager, tech lead, or forward-deployed/solutions lead — in a customer- or field-facing capacity.
  • Hands-on technical depth in big-data and data-platform technologies: Spark (or equivalent large-scale compute), SQL, data pipelines/ETL, and cloud data storage and management.
  • Proven track record of taking ambiguous customer problems from concept to a working solution, demo, or POC — and ideally into production adoption and operational stability.
  • Strong customer-facing skills: able to earn technical credibility with enterprise stakeholders, present to both engineers and executives, and manage expectations under pressure.
  • Demonstrated ability to turn one-off solutions into reusable assets (accelerators, libraries, tooling, templates) that scale beyond a single engagement.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to influence across Product, Engineering, Sales, and customer organizations.
  • Comfort operating with ambiguity, shifting priorities, and multiple concurrent engagements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with modern data-lakehouse and open table formats (e.g., Delta, Iceberg, Hudi), data cataloging, and governance.
  • Hands-on experience building demos or applications with LLMs / GenAI, agents, or RAG over enterprise data.
  • Familiarity with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and/or Oracle’s data and application ecosystem (Autonomous Database/ADW, Fusion, EPM, OAC).
  • Prior experience as a Forward Deployed Engineer, Solutions Architect, or in a professional-services engineering role at an enterprise software or data-platform company.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites as needed.

Pay

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $112,800 - $264,100 per year. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
