Software Development Manager

The Software Development Manager plays a critical role in advancing Lakeland Industries' global business strategy through technology. This position is responsible for leading the development, integration, and support of business applications that drive operational excellence, enable data-driven decision-making, and support growth across a global manufacturing organization.
POSITION PURPOSE
As a hands-on leader, the Software Development Manager partners closely with business leaders across Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, Human Resources, Manufacturing, and Customer Service to identify opportunities where technology can improve efficiency, scalability, and business performance. This role combines technical expertise, team leadership, and business partnership to deliver innovative solutions that create measurable value for the organization.
EQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Requirements:
A strong understanding of data structures, databases, and structured and unstructured data environments.
Proficiency in reading, writing, and developing T-SQL.
Working knowledge of modern software development languages and frameworks used to solve business requirements.
Understanding of web services, APIs, and systems integration concepts.
Experience participating in both Agile and Waterfall development methodologies.
Strong leadership skills and the ability to lead, coach, and develop technical teams.
Preferences:
Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, C++, C#, and Visual Basic.
Knowledge of REST and SOAP APIs.
Experience supporting ERP platforms and enterprise business applications.
SAP experience is preferred.
Experience with business intelligence, reporting, and application integration tools is highly desirable.
MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Education:
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
5-10 years of application development experience with at least 2-3 years of supervisory or management experience in an IT environment.
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Education:
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
10+ years of application development experience with significant experience leading software development teams and enterprise application initiatives.
