About the role

As part of the AWS Applied AI Solutions organization, we are building business applications that leverage Amazon's unique experience and expertise, used by millions of companies worldwide to manage day-to-day operations. We blend vision with curiosity and real-world experience to create opinionated, turnkey solutions that solve enduring business challenges—ideal for customers who prefer to buy over build.

We are looking for a Software Development Manager to lead the team building the next generation of AI agents that transform how Amazonians use AI. You will drive the vision, execution, and delivery of AI-powered solutions within the Amazon AI at Work (AIW) team, reshaping the future of hybrid (AI + human) work for business professionals. This role demands a leader who thrives in a fast-moving space, adapts quickly to evolving priorities, and takes initiative in defining and tackling ambiguity.

As a Software Development Manager, you will own the engineering roadmap, grow and develop a high-performing team, and partner with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver complex, end-to-end AI solutions. You will define the right problems to solve, set priorities in ambiguous spaces, and ensure your team delivers with quality and speed. You will proactively identify gaps and opportunities, innovate within constraints, and drive creative solutions even when resources, timelines, or requirements are tight.

This role requires balancing technical innovation with operational excellence and team health. You will take ownership of hiring, developing, and retaining top engineering talent while setting long-term technical direction and product roadmaps. You will build consensus through thoughtful discussions with stakeholders, scientists, and engineering peers across multiple teams, using strong technical judgment to inform architecture decisions and make strategic trade-offs.
