Software Development Manager, Amazon S3

As a Software Development Manager in S3, you will lead the development of S3's storage service. We build innovative software solutions to provide S3 customers secure, durable, high-available, and performant storage with a low cost. In this role, you will drive the design and implementation of these storage solutions. You will define, plan, and execute deliverables that drive game-changing performance and throughput improvements to S3's storage platform. You will partner with technical leaders and other teams in S3 Storage to deliver these capabilities at S3 scale.

AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (IoT), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including specialized security solutions for customers who require them.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of S3's storage solutions
• Define, plan, and execute deliverables to drive performance and throughput improvements
• Partner with technical leaders and other teams in S3 Storage to deliver capabilities at scale
• Support the development and management of AWS services, including Compute, Database, Storage, IoT, and more

Requirements

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience
• 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams
• 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems
• 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and live-site operations
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
• Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching, and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and effectiveness

Pay

USA, WA, Seattle - $184,900.00 - $250,200.00 USD annually
