Software Development Manager, Amazon Robotics Autonomous Mobility

About the role

The Amazon Robotics Autonomous Mobility team develops software that powers Proteus, Amazon Robotics' first fully-autonomous mobile warehouse robot. We are growing and seek a talented, enthusiastic, and motivated SDM to head our Autonomous Routing and Coordination (ARC) team in North Reading, MA.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute a research & development roadmap for the autonomous routing and coordination team that appropriately balances near-term incremental improvements with long-term vision
• Mentor and grow a team of talented, motivated applied scientists and software engineers
• Establish and drive operational excellence best practices to ensure the team consistently produces and maintains high quality software
• Work with Product Management to define current and future AMR use-cases and align them with the team’s R&D efforts
• Collaborate with partner tech teams in AR’s autonomous mobility program to align priorities, develop a cohesive system architecture, and identify cross-functional opportunities for improvement (e.g., improved performance, reduced complexity)

Qualifications

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience
• 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams
• Theoretical knowledge and practical experience in autonomous navigation or related scientific domain
