Software Development Manager, AgentCore Memory

About the role

Lead engineers on the team building AgentCore Memory, the managed service that lets developers give their AI agents persistent, secure, and intelligent long-term and short-term memory at scale. AgentCore Memory powers stateful, context-aware AI agents that remember customer preferences, recall past conversations, and improve with every interaction. As Software Development Manager, you will own a mission-critical service used by thousands of builders, spanning globally distributed, high-throughput control-plane, data-plane, and real-time ingestion pipelines. You will drive technical direction, operational excellence across multiple AWS regions, and partner with product, science, and engineering teams to define the future of agent memory.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and grow a team of software development engineers, owning hiring, performance management, and career development.
• Own the delivery of a globally distributed, high-throughput service from design through deployment and operations.
• Partner with product managers, applied scientists, and cross-functional engineering teams to define the roadmap and translate customer needs into technical plans.
• Drive operational excellence across multiple AWS regions, ensuring high availability, low latency, and robust security.
• Set and uphold a high bar for engineering quality through design reviews, code reviews, testing strategy, and architectural decisions.
• Manage dependencies, communicate status, risks, and trade-offs to stakeholders and senior leadership.
• Foster an inclusive, collaborative team culture where engineers do their best work.

Requirements

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
• 7+ years of engineering experience.
• 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services.
• 1+ years of providing technical leadership and project management for the full software development lifecycle.
• 1+ years of developing large-scale, multi-tiered distributed software systems using Java, C#, or C++.
• 1+ years of experience with service-oriented architecture and distributed programming.
• 5+ years of Software Engineer or related occupational experience.
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, certification, and live-site operations.
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience communicating with users, technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software features, and define product strategy.
• Experience recruiting, hiring, mentoring, and managing teams of software engineers.

Pay

Base salary range: $203,400 – $275,200 USD annually (New York, NY and Jersey City, NJ). Final compensation includes sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs).
