Software Development Engineer, Prime Video ML Infrastructure
for each section heading. Use - for any list of duties/requirements/benefits. Use
for prose.
We need to preserve all substantive info: that includes intro paragraph about Prime Video, the "We are looking for..." sentence, the responsibilities bullet points, the "A day in the life" paragraph, the "About The Team" paragraph, basic qualifications list, preferred qualifications list, benefits description, pay range, location maybe? Location is part of pay line: "USA, WA, SEATTLE - 143,700.00 - 194,400.00 USD annually". Should we include location? It's substantive. Could be part of Pay section or separate. Probably include in Pay section.
We must not include duplicated lines. Ensure we don't repeat same sentences.
Let's craft sections:
About the role
Prime Video is a first-stop entertainment destination offering customers a vast collection of premium programming in one app available across thousands of devices. Prime members can customize their viewing experience and find their favorite movies, series, documentaries, and live sports – including Amazon MGM Studios-produced series and movies; licensed fan favorites; and programming from Prime Video add-on subscriptions such as Apple TV+, Max, Crunchyroll and MGM+. All customers, regardless of whether they have a Prime membership or not, can rent or buy titles via the Prime Video Store, and can enjoy even more content for free with ads. We are looking for a self-motivated, passionate and resourceful Software Development Engineer to bring diverse perspectives, ideas, and skill-sets to make Prime Video even better for our customers. You will be a service owner helping to design and build the ML infrastructure that power our vision. You will tackle complex and ambiguous problems, designing and delivering scalable and resilient ML platform solutions from the ground up. You will not only write high-quality, maintainable code, but also mentor other engineers, influence our technical strategy, and drive engineering best practices across the team. Your work will directly contribute to making Prime Video's operations more efficient and will set the technical foundation for years to come.
That seems good.
Responsibilities
- Building ML platform services with Tier-1 availability and performance characteristics while enabling rapid model iteration and experimentation for scientists.
- Evolving the model serving and feature delivery infrastructure to enable continuous experimentation and keep pace with innovations in state-of-the-art ML capabilities.
- Designing and scaling training pipelines, real-time inference systems, and feature stores that support the constantly evolving landscape of Prime Video personalization across Movies, TV Shows, Live Sports, Linear TV, and beyond.
- Partnering with Scientists, Product Managers, and Engineering stakeholders to translate research breakthroughs into production-grade platform capabilities.
- As SDE / MLE, you will collaborate with engineering and science teams on building the ML platform that powers personalization solutions at incredible scale and speed.
- You will be operating with state of the art technologies in distributed systems and machine learning infrastructure.
- You will foster a culture of innovation and excellence, leading and growing talented junior engineers on your team and around PV.
- At the end of the day, you will have the reward of seeing your platform enable ML models that delight PV customers worldwide (including yourself!).
We might combine "A day in the life" and "About The Team" into responsibilities or separate? The instruction: Use sections only when posting has real specific content. We have "A day in the life" and "About The Team" as separate paragraphs. Could we put them under Responsibilities as prose? But they are not list items; they are prose. Could create a separate section like "About the team" but we don't have that heading in allowed list. Allowed headings: About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule. So we must fit content into those. "About The Team" could be part of Responsibilities or About the role. Probably Responsibilities is fine to include that prose as inside Responsibilities? But we already used
- for list. We can also include
after list. The rule: Use
- for any list of duties/requirements/benefits, and
for prose. So we can have both list and prose under same section. Let's add a
after the list for the day in the life and about the team.
Thus Responsibilities section:
list of responsibilities (the bullet points from Key job responsibilities). Then for "A day in the life ..." and "About The Team". Combine them maybe two paragraphs.
Let's extract those paragraphs:
"A day in the life As SDE / MLE, you will collaborate with engineering and science teams on building the ML platform that powers personalization solutions at incredible scale and speed. You will be operating with state of the art technologies in distributed systems and machine learning infrastructure. You will foster a culture of innovation and excellence, leading and growing talented junior engineers on your team and around PV. At the end of the day, you will have the reward of seeing your platform enable ML models that delight PV customers worldwide (including yourself!)"
"About The Team This team is at the heart of PV personalization, building the ML platform that enables scientists and engineers to rapidly develop, deploy, and iterate on models that understand customers' preferences based on their past engagement, current context, and other signals. We power the infrastructure behind video discovery experiences across PV, operating in a complex business/tech space that requires us to move at speed and support rapid prototyping and experimentation."
We'll put them as two
elements.
Now Requirements: Basic Qualifications list.
We need to preserve all substantive info. The Basic Qualifications list includes several items:
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
- 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
- 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Note there is some redundancy: 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience maybe duplicates earlier? But we must preserve all substantive info, not remove duplicates unless they are duplicated lines. The instruction: "Remove cookie/navigation/legal/EEO/equal-opportunity/scam-warning boilerplate, duplicated lines, and application instructions." Duplicated lines: if same line appears multiple times, we should deduplicate. Here there may be overlapping but not exact duplicates. We'll keep each bullet as is.
We'll output
- for each.
Now Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications list:
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
We'll output as list.
Now Benefits: we have description of benefits. Also mention sign-on payments and RSUs? That's compensation but could be part of Benefits or Pay. The benefits paragraph includes health insurance, 401(k) matching, paid time off, parental leave, plus link. Also earlier: "Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs)." That's compensation but could be in Benefits or Pay. We'll include in Benefits section as prose.
Thus Benefits section:
Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage), 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave. Learn more about our benefits at https://amazon.jobs/en/benefits.
Now Pay: we have salary range and location. Also mention "The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location." That's partly pay. We'll put salary range and location in Pay section. Also mention that compensation based on experience etc. We'll include that prose.
Thus Pay section: The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
