Software Development Engineer III: GraphQL Platform
About the role
We're the team behind the GraphQL platform that powers mission-critical service across Expedia Group. We design and operate the core infrastructure, including high-throughput federated GraphQL routers and schema tooling. We're solving complex challenges in API performance, schema evolution at scale, and platform reliability.
Responsibilities
- Design, build and develop the core GraphQL platform, including the router, schema workflows, and supporting infrastructure
- Provide technical support and guidance to platform users
- Collaborate with multiple engineering teams to find solutions to best increase developer productivity
- Optimize existing observability and monitoring solutions
- Participate in code reviews to assess overcall code quality and flexibility
- Drive continuous improvement and continuous delivery in our software development process within an agile development team
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent related professional experience and 5+ years of hands-on software development experience, ideally in large-scale or enterprise environments
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
- Experience developing features with Rust or Kotlin and a solid understanding of API design in GraphQL services
- Proven experience designing, developing, and maintaining robust, scalable, high-throughput applications
Pay
The total cash range for this position in Austin is $146,000.00 to $204,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $233,500.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role. Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience.
