Software Development Engineer II, IMS Platform
About the role

The Item Master team is responsible for a variety of services that form a core part of the Amazon eCommerce platform. We develop services that process all item information from millions of merchants selling through Amazon’s family of websites, as well as catalog information for enterprise merchants whose websites run on the Amazon software platform.
Our expertise lies in managing billions of products in the catalog and developing large-scale distributed systems that process hundreds of millions of changes to the catalog every day in real time. Responsibilities
- Develop large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services
- Design and architect new and existing systems for reliability and scaling
- Work on hard computer science problems in a fast-paced environment
- Translate high-level, ambiguous business goals into software platforms
- Take initiative and collaborate with top-notch software developers
Requirements
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems
- 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
- 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded, or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using C#, C++, Java, or Perl
- 1+ years of Object-Oriented Design experience
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
