AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers.

The AWS Data Center Systems team builds services to monitor data center infrastructure controls monitoring and alerting systems. Our services directly contribute to the high availability of AWS data centers and Amazon’s sustainability goals. Teams in Data Center Systems solve problems of massive metric ingestion, distributed systems/cloud computing, data visualization, anomaly detection, analytics, and graph networks.

We are looking for a Software Development Engineer who is passionate about leading the architecture and development of application software that helps keep Amazon data centers running efficiently and securely. On any given day, we use Python, Java, Go, Lambda, DynamoDB, and CloudFormation, as well as other public AWS services and a host of Amazon-internal tools.

Key job responsibilities

  • Leading the design, development, testing and launch of new data acquisition and transport services in the data center infrastructure space
  • Work with senior members and junior members in the team to build new features
  • Make sure enough test has been done to maintain the quality of the delivered software
  • Join the oncall rotation to help solving customer issues in the production system and drive best practices that enable a quality product
  • Care deeply about the customer and delight in creating simple and elegant solutions that solve our customers’ biggest challenges

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

Pay & Benefits

Base salary range: $143,700.00 - $194,400.00 USD annually (Colorado, Denver location). Your package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
